To keep the action going and the games timely, if a game is tied with two minutes left in the third period, the Wrangler will put 3 pucks into play until one team scores twice.
The outcome of Goon Hockey is NEVER predetermined and the hockey skill is top notch! However, every Goon Hockey game is filled with fan friendly (and interactive!) in-game antics, the likes of which have never been seen on ice! These fan interactive hijinks are called GOONFOOLERY!
Who wouldn't want to hoist the Stanley Cup above their head at center ice? Goon players prefer to hoist the Goon Goblet.
This is NOT what you are thinking! In Goon, there aren't many penalties but when there is, the penalty itself is inside of "penalty box" and inside each box is a "mystery penalty". Penalties never involve loss of a skater, in Goon, the penalties serve to disadvantage the offending team. This structure also makes the "real" penalty boxes available to engage the crowd with (give a FAN a penalty!)
Each period begins with skaters of each time lined up on their goal line. The Wrangler drops the puck at center ice and the skaters sprint it. The drop of the puck signifies the start of the game.
As we all know, referees are tasked with maintaining order and enforcing rules. In Goon...both of those tasks are...not terribly important! Therefore, Goon uses Wranglers to "oversee" the action.
Goon Hockey games do not resurface between periods. So you won't be able to watch the Zamboni. BUT, Goon Hockey uses ZAMGOONIES to assist on the ice and throughout the arena! Keep your eyes open or the Zamgoonie may put you in the penalty box!
